In recent years, the crisis of water resources shortage caused by global climate change is keeping raising, coupled with the rapid development of domestic socio-economic boom, the river pollution has long been dramatically increasing in Taiwan. Since the sewage system has not been prevalently accessed, the application of natural purification technique combines ecological and environmental engineering has progressively drawn the national attention to deal with river pollution. The numbers of constructed sites have also been increasingly raised. In order to make the natural purification engineering constructions for river water purification in Taiwan bring out the expected effectiveness steadily and be operated sustainably, the quality assurance process throughout site choosing, design planning, construction monitoring, and maintenance operating is quite seriously supervised by the Environmental Protect Administration. Therefore, also by the committed of Environmental Protect Administration, this project has done edited design reference manuals for both cobble contact bed and constructed wetland, with a discussion meeting with experts and scholars in related filed to confer the content of those manuals; and also hold two educational workshops to provide natural purification technology in the manuals to raise the technical quality of contact cobble bed and constructed wetland.
